The Global Space Agency is one of the oldest Mega-Corporations. It was founded in the mid 20th century. Before 2041 the GSA were called the North American Space Agency (NASA), after the Korhonen Wars they merged with the European Space Agency and became the Global Space Agency.
Today they specialize in the construction of ships and hardware. The construction work is coordinated in Houston, Texas. All heavy construction takes place in the Gargarin Orbital Shipyards, most of earths capital class ships are built here. Any small craft are built at their lunar construction facility.
In the 20th century GSA were the pioneers of the space age. On Wednesday July 16th, 1969, the first man walked on the moon. Unknown at the time, this and future advances in space travel were only made possible by the discovery of several space craft in Nevada. Research suggested that the point of origin was Earth, and these spacecraft were estimated to be over 11,000 years old.
During the Korhonen Wars GSA were ordered to produce technology to help defeat the Korhonen. Few records exist of this period. By December 20th 2039, GSA had a prototype Earth fighter. It was a Hybrid of Earth and Captured Korhonen technology. However the war was over 1 months later and there was no time to test it in combat. That fighter was the basis for many Earth ships such as the popular SA-43 Heavy Atmospheric Attack Jet.
During the War GSA learned new skills in spacecraft construction. In 2041 it became a private corporation and began producing spacecraft for the Earth Confederation Military and several commercial buyers.
In the years after the Korhonen War, GSA purchased many spaceship parts from Morgenson Traders. This put them at the cutting edge of Spacecraft assembly.
In 2047, CEO Robert Asumendi announced that it was GSA's aim to produce the first Jump-capable ship, made on Earth. The ship took six years to develop, and was named Explorer. Its Jump Engine was primitive and based on the Morgensen and Korhonen engines which had been reverse engineered. On the 20th April 2053 it made its first jump to Hyperspace. Explorer remained in Hyperspace for a period of 37 minutes. The technology took off and GSA made millions. GSA's contribution was key to the exploration and colonisation of the outer solar system.
Since 2053 GSA has gone from strength to strength. At the moment people on Earth are awaiting the public launch of the Class IV Military Drive.
